For me, it started in the summer of 2022, when I more or less accidentally ended up at a bullfight in Valencia. I thought it would be culturally interesting and knew very little about it at the time. What I saw there affected me deeply. A bull was abused and ultimately killed. In that moment, I realised how stark the contradiction was between my aversion to animal suffering and my own behaviour. Out of respect for the bull, I decided then and there to stop eating meat.
Step by step, I discovered that using animals is not necessary. That applies not only to meat, but also to other animal products such as dairy and eggs. Four months later, I became vegan. Looking back, I wish someone had inspired me sooner to think more carefully about how we treat animals. Becoming vegan is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I hope others can make the same discovery. But above all, I want that for the animals, so they no longer have to suffer unnecessarily.
